Leaving the Dungeon for Gambling Trip

I'm starting to get a little excited - I forgot to mention that tomorrow my hubby and I are heading to Wheeling Island Casino. Our favorite spot to gamble. We love Atlantic City, too - The Tropicana Casino gives the best comps, but it's a 6 to 6.5 hour drive for us and in this weather, we'll stick with Wheeling - it's only 2 hours. We have a room for the night, so that makes it even better..this way if you get tired, or run out of money, or just want to take a break, you can go up to the room and rest. And, I bought 2 packs of Marlboro Menthol ultra lights so I have plenty to smoke while I'm there. Wheeling Island doesn't have the smoking restrictions the way PA casino's do, but they do have a whole area that's for non-smoking if you want a smoke free area.
We didn't do to bad last time we were there - Hubby hit for $625.00 on a "Double Diamond (quarter) Machine", and I hit for $160.00 on a dollar "Purple Passion" machine. It was my last spin, too, so I only had $1.00 left to play with and it hit. I was really happy.
We were supposed to go last week for Valentines Day, but we got more snow here in PA, and we didn't want to get stranded down in West Virgina.
Thinking about going to Wheeling Island has lessened my funky fog I was in earlier today - what does that say, when you can't wait to give your money away and it makes you happy?? LOL! We all know we hope to win big big big while we're spending it...

Quilting from the Dungeon

Well, here it is Monday...I was in a good mood then very suddenly it turned into a depression. Don't ask me why, it just did. I made myself eat some lunch and decided to work on my quilt. First let me say, I got the idea from watching YouTube.com, and I liked the idea. You make your squares and then you quilt each square, then put them all together with binding strips. This way you're not trying to shove a 6' x 7' quilt through a 8" opening in your sewing machine. Anyways, I knew I was going to run out of top thread soon, and today it did. AND, just my luck, not all the JoAnn Fabric stores sell's the type of thread I bought. I don't have a car and with this snowy weather, I can't get out to the store I need to go to, without asking someone else to drive me, so my quilt is on hold. Oh, I have many more unfinished quilts I can work on, but I figured I'd facebook awhile then blog.
Attached, I thought I would share with you how I free motion quilt on my "every day" sewing machine. I'll show you the quilt when it's all finished, too. But, until I get out and buy some more thread, that's gonna be longer than I thought. I still have to trim up all the squares so they are the same size, and then put them all together with the (above mentioned) binding strips.
Let's see...there was more stuff I was going to blog about today, and now I can't remember what they were - hey, it could be your lucky day after all! LOL!

The Dungeon Blogger

First Time blogger here - sounds like this might be fun. I am blogging from my basement, what I call "The Dungeon". I am the only one down here 99.9% of the time, it's the only place that has room for me and all my stuff, the upstairs has been taken by the rest of the family. The Dungeon houses all my crafts rooms, I do decorative painting - but not for years now - I sew and make quilts, I make homemade soap, and I am on the computer a lot. I enjoy working with paper, making journals, some homemade cards, and kicking "Robot Ass" on Pogo Scrabble.
